Fall 2008 Semester Start-Up

Complete these steps to make sure you are ready for the semester.

1. CHECK to make sure you are registered.

  • Beginning August 18, go to Student Center and make sure you have no holds preventing your registration (NetID required).
  • To be registered, you must:
    -complete course enrollment according to individual college requirements;
    -settle all financial accounts, including current semester tuition;
    -clear all holds;
    -satisfy New York State and university health requirements.
  • Registration must be completed by September 19, 2008. After this date you will lose access to university services and will be charged a $350 late fee, plus $25 per week after the 6th week, in addition to finance charges. Failure to register will also impact financial aid, loan deferments and health benefits relying on in-school status.
  • If you require a Certificate of Enrollment (or Degree) for a loan organization, health insurance provider, or other, ONCE you are registered, order it at http://certification.cornell.edu/

2. REVIEW the Student Record Privacy Statement: Annual Notification under FERPA

  • Read the Student Record Privacy Statement today, and get to know your privacy rights.
  • This statement outlines certain rights afforded to you as a student with respect to your education records and defines when records may be released without your consent.

3. VERIFY and UPDATE your personal data on Student Center

8/8 Bursar bill (including fall tuition) due
8/18 - Registration & course schedule info available on Student Center
-First Year Writing Seminar (FWS) electronic ballot entry begins (NetID required).
8/19 Law School: Course schedule (and room locations) available at https://support.law.cornell.edu/students; course add/drop begins 12pm.
8/22 New Student Registration (undergraduates) 8am-5pm, Bartels Hall
8/25 New Student Registration (graduate students) 8:30am-3pm, Bartels Hall
8/26 Physical Education (PE) and Cornell Outdoor Education (COE) information, 9am-4pm, Teagle Hall gym
8/27 -Course add/drop begins by 10:00 a.m. on Student Center
-PE and COE information, 12-5pm, Teagle Hall gym
-FWS electronic ballot entry due
8/28 Classes begin
8/30 FWS course add/drop begins
9/19 Last day to register; last day to add classes
10/17 Last day to drop classes
